छावनियों की अवधारणा से हटेगी सरकार
- सरकार सैन्य स्टेशनों और नागरिक क्षेत्रों को अलग करके और अपने संबंधित राज्यों में नगर पालिकाओं के साथ बाद में विलय करके छावनी शहरों की ब्रिटिश -युग की अवधारणा से हटना चाह रही है।
- यह कई छावनी शहरों के प्रशासन में बदलाव होगा।
- रक्षा मंत्रालय ने 27 अप्रैल को एक अधिसूचना के माध्यम से हिमाचल प्रदेश में योल के लिए छावनी का टैग हटा दिया।
POEM-2 ने अंतरिक्ष में सफलतापूर्वक ऑन-ऑर्बिट प्रयोग किए
- IN-SPAC, इसरो की एक वाणिज्यिक शाखा ने सूचित किया है कि PSLV कक्षीय प्रायोगिक मॉड्यूल, POEM-2 अंतरिक्ष में ऑन-ऑर्बिट सफलतापूर्वक प्रयोग कर रहा है।

महाराष्ट्र राज्य अवसंरचना विकास निगम की स्थापना की जाएगी
- `महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने महाराष्ट्र राज्य अवसंरचना विकास निगम स्थापित करने को मंजूरी दी है।
- राज्य मंत्रिमंडल ने राज्य भर के सभी नागरिक निकायों में ठोस अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन के लिए सूचना और संचार प्रौद्योगिकी पर आधारित ICT या समाधान का उपयोग करने के प्रस्ताव को भी मंजूरी दे दी है।

- भारतीय विदेश व्यापार संस्थान, नई दिल्ली ने 2 मई 2023 को अपने 60वें स्थापना दिवस पर हीरक जयंती मनाई।
- भारतीय विदेश व्यापार संस्थान भारत का एक प्रमुख बिजनेस स्कूल है।
- 1963 में स्थापित, यह वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्रालय के तहत एक स्वायत्त निकाय के रूप में काम करता है।
- यह सिविल सेवा प्रशिक्षण संस्थान के रूप में भी कार्य करता है।
- इसका मुख्य परिसर नई दिल्ली में है।

- ग्लोबल मीडिया वॉचडॉग रिपोर्टर्स विदाउट बॉर्डर्स (RSF) द्वारा जारी नवीनतम रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, 2023 वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम इंडेक्स में भारत की रैंकिंग 180 देशों में से 161 पर आ गई है।

Government will move away from the concept of cantonments
- The government is looking to move away from the British-era concept of cantonment towns by separating military stations and civilian areas and merging the latter with municipalities in their respective states.
- This will be a change in the administration of many cantonment towns.
- The Ministry of Defense through a notification on 27 April removed the cantonment tag for Yol in Himachal Pradesh.
POEM-2 successfully carried out on-orbit experiments in space
- IN-SPAC, a commercial arm of ISRO has informed that PSLV Orbital Experimental Module, POEM-2 is successfully performing on-orbit experiments in space.
- POEM-2 is conducting in-orbit tests for various non-governmental organizations with seven payloads.
- The valuable on-orbit data obtained provides scope for further development and new opportunities.
Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation to be set up
- `The Maharashtra government has approved setting up of the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
- The state cabinet has also approved a proposal to use ICT or solutions based on information and communication technology for solid waste management in all civic bodies across the state.
- The state cabinet has also approved setting up of a 350-bed Regional Psychiatric Hospital at Shirur.
60th Foundation Day of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade
- The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on 2 May 2023 on its 60th Foundation Day.
- The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is a premier business school in India.
- Established in 1963, it works as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- It also functions as a Civil Services Training Institute.
- Its main campus is in New Delhi.
India slips in World Press Freedom Index, ranks 161st
- India’s ranking has dropped to 161 out of 180 countries in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index, according to the latest report released by global media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
- In 2022, India was ranked 150th.
- Norway, Ireland and Denmark occupied the top three spots in press freedom, while Vietnam, China and North Korea made up the bottom three.
Russian poet Maria Stepanova wins Leipzig Book Prize
- Maria Stepanova has been awarded the prestigious Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding in 2023.
- The Russian-Jewish author, whose novels In Memory of Memory explore Stalinism and the Fall of the Soviet Union, has been nominated for the Booker Prize in 2021.
- In Leipzig she was honored for her poem, Girls Without Clothes.
